Hey, friends! I’m so glad you’re up for part 2 of Using Essential Oils to Release Negative Emotions! On the surface, it may not seem like it but I’ve gotta tell you, this has been quite the writing challenge for me! As I’ve gone through the editing process, I am just overwhelmed with how much information there is to sort through. I’m leaving a lot of wonderful stuff out of this series, which means there’s plenty more to be had from Dr. Carolyn’s book. Especially the all important body charts for alarm points!
With that in mind and as we begin Part 2 of this series, I’m empowering YOU to tune yourself in and seek the Lord as to whether or not this is a healing journey you need to take. Without Him, everything we try will most surely fail. With Him, we are equipped to move forward with confidence rather than fear. I sincerely hope that as you read Part 2 of this series, everything I have to share will give you exactly what you need to help determine your path.
Emotions Create Patterns
In Part 1, I briefly mentioned that negative emotions effect us on a physical level. I also explained in greater depth how our emotions are stored in the DNA of our cells. This fact is key to understanding something else. To put it simply, our stored emotions create response patterns!
Here’s an example of what I mean. Way back when I was a toddler my Mom put me in Day Care so that she could go to work. The memory is foggy, but I can still see the walls of the room and the kids I was with. The most vivid aspect of that memory, however, is how I felt. It wasn’t until I picked up Dr. Carolyn’s book that realized that the emotion I felt was abandonment. To say the least it was a pretty traumatic experience for me.
Since that time as a little girl, I have unknowingly struggled with the emotion, Fear of Abandonment. This fear, although associated with my Mom, showed up in different experiences of my life with different people. It is probably the hardest emotional struggle I’ve dealt with. Because of that, rewiring my brain to Accept All of Life’s Experiences, the positive side of the emotion, has been a challenge.
Method of Release
This is the perfect spot to finally introduce the Method of Release! This comes straight out of Carolyn’s book and, to keep things simple, I’m using my emotional pattern of Fear of Abandonment for our example.
Negative Emotion – Fear of Abandonment | Positive Emotion – At-one-meant | Statement of Intension – I embrace all of life’s experiences | Alarm Point – Small Intestines (middle section of the abdomen) | Oil for release – Lavender
- Acknowledge and feel the negative emotion
- Smell the appropriate oil and imagine its aroma filling your entire body
- Feel the Positive side of the emotion
- Apply the oil to the Alarm Point
- Touch the two corners (frontal eminences) of your forehead with the oil
- Inhale the oil with deep breaths and prayerfully meditate on the positive side and intention, asking God to help your mind, body, spirit, and emotions to release the negative and embrace the positive side.
Breaking Down the Method of Release
When I first began using Carolyn’s book the Statement of Intension was really hard for me to comprehend. It was the concept that bothered me most. But as time went on and I stuck with it, it made more and more sense. I realized that in order for me to understand the statement, I had to really meditate on shifting my mind from negative thoughts to positive.
With that in mind, understand that the Statement of Intention is actually the part of the release method that rewires the brain! What you’re focussing on is opening up a new pathway in your limbic system for the positive emotion to be embraced at the cellular level. That’s how we make the negative pattern disappear! But how is this done?
First of all, having a grateful heart really helps me open up to positivity. In fact, I smile every time I think about the work that was put into the oil I’m smelling! The second thing is to praise God for every breath you draw in and breath out! Our life is a gift! We are owning this gift when we claim life, positivity, joyfulness! We are living out God’s command to trust Him in faith by simply letting go, making room for Him to do the work. So use the Statement of Intention deliberately!
My Own Journey
This is ultimately why I began a release process in the first place – to rebuild and renew my body, mind, and spirit from the negative emotional aftermath of a broken relationship.
Each night I use a drop or two of the Release blend. I apply it topically to my whole abdomen and then breath it in for a couple minutes. While this is going on, I pray for God to use the oil to bless my body. After the initial start, I then apply specific oils to specific alarm points on my abdomen, following the Release Method for each one. It typically only takes 10-15 minutes. I usually go through this ritual each night before bed which allows the limbic system to go to work while I sleep.
After a couple of nights of this regimen, I begin to remember certain traumatic memories. When memories surfaced, and if they made sense to me, I take some time to meditate and reapply the oil connected to the negative emotion to replace it with its positive side. When I do this, sometimes I feel little amounts of pain or tightness in the tissue where the emotion was stored.
It is when I feel a discomfort that I take extra time to massage that area with the oil, meditating on the positive side of the emotion until the pain goes away. Here’s the cool part – I can feel the energy shift inside me! This shift typically manifested itself as warm fuzzies or several electric-like pulses that feel like goosebumps all over my body! It feels incredible and relaxing.
Embracing the Process
The most important aspect of any kind of emotional release is that it is a process. I cannot put a time frame on it because it’s really up to your body and how deeply rooted the emotional patterns are. You can implement the Release Method once a day, three times a day, or every single hour if you wish. It is up to you and what your schedule will allow. If the process ever becomes overwhelming, take a break. Rest until you feel strong enough to tackle it once more.
Don’t forget that the time it takes for a release of emotional patterns is also dependent on how deeply rooted the emotions are in your body’s cellular memory. So from that standpoint, this process is not bound by time. It simply will be what it will be. But you do have an abundance of time, and you are worth the effort! And best of all, once it’s gone, you will know because of how free, light and happy you feel!
Understand also that the Release Method isn’t the only thing you can do to help things move along. Journaling is very helpful. A simple, prayerful meditation to connect with Jesus each day has done wonders for me. But the best thing I have found that works for my personality is meeting with a trusted family member or friend to talk things through. God uses the voices of others to speak into our hearts. Yes, being vulnerable in this is hard! Yet, it is probably the most important, because you are actually giving other’s an opportunity to really love and accept you.
Grounding Our Minds in God’s Word
Through the Release process, it exceedingly helpful to keep deeply grounded in God’s Word. His Psalms speak volumes to my heart when I am walking through confusion in the release process. Uncertainty can really be defeating for me, but if I have the Lord to lean on and rest in through it all, I succeed! He has built this world with grace and goodness. Even in our fallen, broken state, we can still find healing and renewal. He promises this to us hundreds of times in His Love Letter, the Bible.
I cannot believe how REAL my relationship with the Lord has become since my experiences of release and renewal. This is in-part because He has outfitted us with these little keys we call essential oils. He is truly a loving God who pursues us! He doesn’t want us to stay in our old habits and emotional patterns! As I read Paul’s words of putting off the old man and putting on the new, I believe there is more to this than we typically allow ourselves to think.
God’s Word is all-encompassing. It surpasses all knowledge and baffles the worldly-wise. I pray that if you desire to walk down this road of emotional healing and renewal, you will do so seeking the Lord’s love and guidance through it all. We cannot do it without His blessing.
Again, Charlotte and I are not health specialists, but we do have a big heart for sharing what we have found to significantly bless our walk with the LORD. Most importantly, we want the best for YOU. No matter what that looks like, it is our earnest prayer that He will reveal to your heart just how much He truly loves and cares about you.
I’m also praying you will be brave and bold to take the tools He has given us to walk through this process. May He send the right people into your life to be there with you as you heal. God bless you, my friend!
With love and prayers,
By the Way...
