Hey, Friends! I’m going to be straight-up honest with you here: I am not a great DIY-er when it comes to beauty products. I can do clothing and home decor, but when it comes to personal care, I kind of lose all motivation. However, I’m also a pinch-penny. I’ll do what I have to, to save a dime with a DIY, and invest it where I just can’t make it myself. Today I’m going to share one of the *simplest* balm recipes ever, that works like a dream, and will have your hands, feet, and cuticles lookin’ fab in no time, even if you aren’t a big DIY-er (like me, haha)!
Your Skin will Thank You
I’m one of those gals who has *always* struggled with hang-nails! Oh my heavens, but those things drive me nuts! When we began using essential oils for our skin, I was determined to *finally* get my fingers & toes in order, and have them looking shiny & peel-free. You know what? I have succeeded marvelously, and completely without toxins like mineral oil & synthetic fragrance!
Get ready to reveal the best nails you’ve ever had while nourishing your cuticles with natural ingredients that your body will LOVE!
What You’ll Need
NOTE: We get all our ingredients from Amazon, excepting the Essential oils, so just search on there for high-quality, pure versions of what I have listed below, and you’ll be good to go!
- 1 Tbls Shea Butter (optional, but sooooo good!)
- 1 tsp Bees Wax Pellets
- 2 Tbls Fractionated Coconut Oil*
- 1 Tbls Vitamin E Oil
- 20 drops of your Young Living essential oils of choice (I prefer Lavender & Frankincense. Check out our skin faves here!)
*I prefer fractionated because it is already liquified, so I can have a consistent thickness that won’t melt in the heat like if I used normal coconut oil.
How to Make It
Combine the shea butter + beeswax pellets in a small microwave-safe container, cover with a paper towel, and microwave until the wax pellets are just beginning to melt (I like to do mine in 30-sec increments, and stir in between).*
*If you’re the non-nuking type like my sister (ahem), you could technically do this on the stove in a metal bowl set over a pot of steaming water… but I’m lazy and like the microwave 😉
Stir the mixture to completely dissolve the beeswax, and add the coconut oil & vitamin E oil. Pour the mixture into your container of choice (preferably 1.5oz or more), and add the essential oils. Stir with a metal spoon to combine & let rest until set.
I love to use this balm on my hands every morning & night, on my legs after I shave, and on my feet after an Epsom salt soak. Not only do I get a great detox in the evening with the Epsom salts, but I also help my body relax & unwind with the incredible therapeutic properties of the Lavender & Frankincense that I apply with this moisturizing balm. You just can’t lose with the multi-benefits of toxin-free ingredients!
Hope that you enjoy this recipe, and let me know in the comments if you made it & liked it!
