Most of us are habit-makers, right? Sometimes we get into bad habits, but a lot of the time we mean well and do our best to make good habits. Something Charlotte and I have been focusing on this year is making healthy habits using Young Living essential oils. Believe me, those little bottles can be so elusive if I don’t pay attention to them. Before I know it a whole week has gone by without having touched one! So here are 7 healthy habits to keep you on track using essential oils every day.
Brushing Our Teeth
When we wake up, first thing’s first – brushing our pearly whites! But we don’t use your conventional toothpaste, no, we to stay clear of that blue goo! Instead, we make our own Thieves-infused with Tooth Powder. The best thing about this DIY is how well it works! Literally, since our switch, we have experienced the most remarkable dental health we’ve ever had! Make a healthy habit even healthier with by making your own Thieves-infused Tooth Powder!
Tip: We brush our teeth before breakfast to cut down on the bacteria that collects up overnight. If we don’t, the bacteria will use the sugars from our breakfast and create an acid that actually breaks down the enamel of our teeth, making way for cavities! 😬
Okay, ladies, I’ve got a little secret – I’m in love with Young Living’s skin-supporting essential oils! Tea Tree, Lavender, and Frankincense are just a few of the oils I use every morning on my face to help encourage a radiant complexion. Tea Tree’s therapeutic properties help support a clear complexion while revitalizing oils like Frankincense and Lavender keep the redness away. Oh man, they are amazing!
Now, it’s incredibly important to keep up a good facial regime, but what about the rest of your skin?
Allow me to introduce the Young Living Massage Oils! My favorite is the Dragon Time Massage Oil (I’ll bet you can’t guess why) 😉 The best thing about any of the massage oils is how well they lock hydration into the skin, without the clammy feel of lotion. So, if you’re like me and prefer to feel smooth without the clamminess, then use these oils instead of lotion to keep your skin soft and hydrated.
I can’t remember how long it’s been since I’ve worn perfume, but I do remember when Charlotte used to wear her imposter essential oil-infused perfume when we would go out. Ever since my body has detoxed itself from any synthetic fragrances, I just cannot stand them! I actually get minor headaches if I am around someone for too long who is wearing perfume. But a girl’s gotta smell pretty, right? 💁
Right! Thankfully, Young Livings essential oil blends smell heavenly no matter what, so I pick out my favorites –Stressaway and Abundance – and put on a fresh application behind my ears right before I head out the door. Get ready for the compliments because people are going to LOVE the way you smell!
Just about every day I try to remember to pick out an oil that I know will help detox my body. Doing something gentle every day to help detox your body is a really great habit to start at any time of life! It could be anything from drinking more water, herbal tea, or a detox supplement. Most of the time, though, I just grab an essential oil. It’s too easy not to!
Depending on the day I might pick out a specific oil to target a specific organ, but most of the time I just like a general detox, so I use a blend called Citrus Fresh. This blend contains the best detoxing citrus oils along with metabolism-boosting Spearmint.
Perhaps you’re just starting out with your Premium Starter Kit and you only have Lemon Vitality? Perfect! Lemon is one of the most basic detoxing oils you will ever use! I like to pop a capsule of Lemon Vitality in my mouth in the morning after I’ve brushed my teeth to start my body off on the right track. Want to get you hands on a Premium Starter kit (i.e- 11 oils + a FREE diffuser!)? Click here! 🙂
Note: Because Citrus Fresh causes photosensitivity, I like to rub it on my abdomen or any other place I know will not be exposed to the sun.
That mid-day slump hits the best of us! That’s exactly why Founder D. Gary Young created these two very important oil blends – En-R-Gee and Awaken. If your body is just blah, perhaps on a daily basis, try Energy! I use this oil topically on my middle back (where my adrenal glands are located) to support their energy production. Awaken is fantastic to help you overcome any emotional blocks that may have impacted your day, opening up your mind to new possibilities. I put this one on the sides of my neck and over my temples to help me wake up and blast through a mental task (like writing up this post!)
Also, depending on how I feel, Peppermint is also super helpful in kicking my brain back in gear.
Personal Choice: I have used all three on different occasions, and Peppermint and Awaken have been my top favorites.
Epsom Salt Foot Bath
So far I’ve taken you through my day of habits that I try to hold to on a regular basis. Now we’ve come to evening and are just about ready to hit the hay. Typically we like to sit down for a show as a family. This in itself is relaxing, but let’s turn it down one more notch by adding a therapeutic, essential oil-infused Epsom salt foot bath as one of our last habits.
We Boyer ladies LOVE our Epsom salts! In fact, this foot bath went from a once a week habit to an every night habit as soon as we realized how wonderful Epsom salt is for a better night’s sleep. (Google it!) Along with the salts, I usually grab Citronella to calm down my nervous system, or Thieves and Purification blends for a little extra detoxing/immune-boosting. Get ready to be turned into a noodle, you guys! 😉
Note: If you’ve ever wondered about mixing oil in water, you and I both know it doesn’t work. This is the case for essential oils, too. However, if you mix an essential oil with a handful of Epsom salts before adding water, the oil will attach itself to the salt and infuse properly into the water.
Last but not least comes bedtime. We keep a diffuser in our room for bedtime and diffuse relaxing oils like Lavender and Cedarwood. We’ve been trying out a new blend lately called Rutavala Roll-on (Rootuh-vah-lah). Young Living is bringing it back soon, but if you’re interested in promoting a better night’s sleep, then choose this blend! When nothing else works, this oil puts us to sleep. 😴
One Week Challenge
There’s no doubt in my mind that making new habits is hard! But if you set out on this journey of wellness with your mind already made up, the only person who’s going to stop you is you! Maybe you’re like me and need little sticky notes posted around the house to help you remember to stick to a new habit? Or maybe you’re totally awesome and can keep track of everything up in your head? Either way, you are going to succeed if your goal to use your oils every single day.
I am challenging you for one week to use this post as an inspiring guideline to help you use your oils every single day. You may not have as many oils on hand, and that’s okay. The point is to use what you have every day so you train yourself into a new habit. Are you ready to boost your health with me? Grab those bottles and oil up!
Do you find it hard to remember to use your essential oils every day?
What is your favorite bedtime essential oil?
What is your favorite habit from this post?
Love always, Jessica B.
